Go NoRTH
The culinary destination at 190 Clayton Lane, NoRTH, is built on a philosophy that a meal is about more than great food. The trendy menu and varied cuisine ranges from strawberry & goat cheese salad to flank steak, ahi tuna and, our favorite, “Not Your Typical” Chicken Lasagna. Each of the savory pasta dishes can also be ordered wheat free. Happy hour begins at 3 p.m. daily so start out with the Sangria Rosso. What’s Italian for “pace your self”? Stay in the zip code
Piatti Locali is Italian for “local plates” and it could be the doppelganger of a bistro in Florence just up the street from Scuola Lorenzo di Medici. At 190 St. Paul, there’s just something about an open kitchen and a stone pizza hearth that makes it taste authentic. The ravioli in the light lemon sauce is a perfect way to celebrate summer and no description of the heirloom tomato cocktail could do it justice--you’ll just have to experience it for yourself. Spice it up
Bombay Clay Oven at 165 Steele St. has a history as rich as the sauce on the Tikka Masala. The chef, Krishna, was the chef at Denver’s first Indian restaurant and has more then 30 years experience. The Bombay Clay Oven has been cooking up the notoriously seasoned cuisine of India in Cherry Creek North since 1993. Slip off your shoes and let yourself sink into the romantic Divan seats for a little ambiance to go with your shrimp sautee. Go to http://bombayclayoven.com for info. |

Secret sauce
Hapa is the Hawaiian term of the melding of Asian and American cultures and at Hapa Sushi at 2780 E. 2nd Ave. it means traditional Japanese cooking reinvented with an American flair for an innovative menu. Our pick is the rock ‘n roll, spicy rock shrimp and cucumber in Hapa’s secret sauce. Happy hour from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 p.m. to midnight Thursday through Saturday offers a selection of fruit-infused sake and sake cocktails for $3.50 and $1.60 nigiri Friday and Saturday. The trifecta
The Spanish to English translation of Tambien is “also,” probably selected because the list of reasons to venture to Tambien at 250 Steele St. #104 goes on and on. Potent yet pleasing, award-winning margs, $1 Tacos from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and a patio—what more could you ask for? This is the hottest spot North of the border. Bigger is better
Before the summer winds down, make sure you get to the largest patio in Cherry Creek North, the Argyll’s nearly 1,000 square-foot patio at 2700 E. 3rd Ave. Named for the Scottish clan of Campbell, this type of gastro pub was popularized in London and means “public house.” The food: delicacies from the lochs, bays, waterways, farms and glens of the United Kingdom. Uprooted and transplanted in Cherry Creek North, the 100-year-old bar could’ve fooled us. On tap you will find 12 beers, from European style to American craft. Visit www.argyllpub.com |
