Re-evaluate Your Resolutions Resolve to make resolutions you can keep. The three resolutions topping everyone's lists this year are fixtures: lose weight (contemporary lifestyle change), save money (idealistic hope) and live green (saving the earth one biodegradable coffee cup at a time). But let's be realistic! If the only thing you've been recycling is unfulfilled goals from year to year, it's time to re-evaluate. The key is to first focus on what you want and why you want it. Once that is firmly established in your mind, it's time to make a plan. For example, instead of setting a goal of how many pounds you want to lose and then getting discouraged when it isn't immediate, set how you want to go about it. Research the diet or exercise program you want to follow and gently integrate it into your life. Seriously, that carrot-stick-only shtick won't last. A new year is always a good time for a new you so go ahead and change your pace.

Getting fit, beautiful, made over What better month than January to thank someone – your favorite waiter, chef, stylist, spa technician or BHF (best helpful friend) – with a note and small gift? January is the month when we all breathe a sigh that the hubbub of December is behind us. What a pleasant surprise someone you care about will receive when you unexpectedly thank him or her for the year of goodness ahead. And, P.S., your thoughtfulness certainly is insurance that continued goodwill does indeed lie ahead. |

Out! Out! Brown Spot! Plastic surgeons call it melasma . . . we call them brown spots, and winter is a great time to zap away what the sun has done to your skin. The process is quick, easy and painless and prepares you for a summer sans blotches. Most of the plastic surgeons, spas and skin clinics in Cherry Creek North are professionally prepared to blast out the spots. |

Make Mine Skim Milk ... This Month Hmmm. . . ever wonder if January weight-loss resolutions change the milk-fat percentage coffee drinkers use in their coffee at the start of the year? Starbucks on 3rd Avenue says this time of year they stalk up on sugar-free syrups, skim milk and soymilk. A few extra syllables in your drink order can save you about 30 calories if you switch to sugar-free syrup and about 50 calories by switching from whole milk to skim. (Our calculations are only based on a Starbuck’s “tall” drink.) |

Reshape Yourself Perfectly-fitting lingerie is key to a great profile. Several Cherry Creek North stores specialize in making your body look its best by fitting you in the ideal undergarments. You’ll be in excellent and caring hands: The staff at SOL Lingerie are professionals in body shaping through latex and lace. This is a faster way to define your body than crunches and 6 a.m. gym visits, and who knows? Maybe when you see how great you can look, it’ll be your source of inspiration. |

Establishing a commitment to your new year’s resolution could be half the battle. Buy Now, Give Later Put a gift away for a rainy day. If you see something marked down that is perfect for your BFFM (best friend forever’s mom) but her birthday isn’t until June, don’t hesitate. Now is the time to buy up the tokens that are seen as less desirable after the holiday hoopla. What customers were fighting over to pay full price for on December 24, is heavily discounted in January. Buying gifts as you see them instead of as they are due to be given not only saves money, but the time and stress of looking for gifts later. Most of all, it ensures your thoughtful gifts. |
