Red Carpet Rave
It’s Oscar time! The glam. The sparkle. The red carpet. The paparazzi. The buzz. Joan Rivers? While the nominees for Best Actor/Actress and Best Picture are compelling, fess up: it’s the Celeb Fashion and Style that is the big take-away from the televised event. We are proud to announce that Cherry Creek North is filled with nominees for “Best Of” in every category: Check out some of our own local favorites here in Colorado’s center of style. The envelope please....

Style

Icing On the (Wedding) Cake
Best Dressed. Priscilla of Boston – The Brides Shop, at 299 Detroit St., takes the cake for lavish weddings. Brides can bring in pictures they’ve torn from magazines and a Priscilla bridal consultant will help them track down the same if not similar style. Try on gowns by Melissa Sweet, Vineyard and of course, Priscilla of Boston, plus a varied color palette for your bridesmaids and mom too.
Dresses That Pop
Best Costumes. The award for fashion most likely to attract paparazzi goes to Betsey Johnson, at 120 Clayton Lane. Her one-of-a-kind collection of taffeta, polka dots and sequins will have heads turning. She has received numerous awards during her career, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from both the Signature Awards and the Accessories Council, the Coty Award in 1972 (she was the youngest ever), and Mademoiselle magazine’s Guest Editor Contest. Fashionistas claim, “If Betsey Johnson didn’t exist, we would have to invent her, simply to remind ourselves that fashion can be fun. She’s the original wild child and set to paint the town pink!”
Celeb-Style Sparkle
Best Costumes/Jewelry. The most red carpet-worthy jewelry award goes to John Atencio Designer Jewelry, at 140 Clayton Lane. The opulent baubles designed by this Colorado native are bold and unique and the wearable art includes diamonds, silver and gold and you can find casual wear through engagement rings. For a preview, download the catalog at www.johnatencio.com.
Making Up is the Best Part

Between the sheets
Best love scene. This year’s cinematic re-pairing of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslete in “Revolutionary Road” has inspired many a boudoir makeover. The Brass Bed Fine Linens & Furnishings at 3113 E. Third Ave. at St. Paul has been the go-to source for defining thread count for 32 years. Through February, The Brass Bed features 20-30% savings on in-stock women's robes and pajamas and men's robes. Art

What’s Best, Doc?
Best Classics. The Gallery of Legends and Dreams at 313 Detroit St. is unquestionably the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award for bringing us the characters who delight and amuse us. Academy Award winners Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny (the latter’s statuette, awarded in 1958, was 18-carat, or shall we say “carrot” gold) hang here along with ’toon pals Charlie Brown, the Road Runner, the Flintstones and countless others. Th-th-th-at’s all, folks!
Picture Perfect
Best Picture – Best Investment. The award surely goes to Thomas Kinkade Gallery at Cherry Creek, 231 Milwaukee St. Kinkade is the #1 collected artist of all time and the only artist licensed by the Walt Disney Co. to paint all of its characters. The 12-part Disney Series by Kinkade released in 2008 has already doubled in value, says shop owner John McIntire who sold out the Snow White in the series almost immediately. He was able to find another 20 Snow Whites and until they are gone he has them at 25% off. New in February is the second in the series, “Pinocchio Wishes Upon a Star,” at $750 to $950 in canvas, $250 for paper. Stop by the shop for a free Thomas Kinkade Mountain Paradise print, valued at $75.
