Thanksgiving
The Christmas cups are already at Starbucks and halls are being decked with boughs of holly. We are so excited for the holiday season in Cherry Creek North, there have already been sightings of red and green in the same outfit. We can’t be expected to resist the mistletoe much longer! But before the merriment commences, it’s time to take a breather, and remember everything we are thankful for: the finely-tailored suit, a favorite piece of art, a hearty microbrew. Oh yea, while we’re getting all warm and fuzzy, let us just say, we appreciate Y-O-U too.

HAPPY

Linger Longer
Stay…just a little bit longer. You can at the Inn at Cherry Creek at 233 Clayton Lane. When you book 3 nights during Thanksgiving week ($135 per night) you will get the fourth night free. And the Inn’s outstanding restaurant, The Weber, is serving up a scrumptious Thanksgiving Dinner with all the fixins’. So whether you’re lingering to enjoy your family and friends, extending a Cherry Creek North shopping excursion, or if all of the festivities left you needing a personal day, you can take your time and relax in luxury in the heart of Cherry Creek North. Bring along the family dog: the Inn at Cherry Creek, thankfully, offers pet-friendly accommodations.
It’s Firkin Friday!
Let the firkin flow! Every Friday at the Argyll GastroPub at 2700 E. 3rd Ave. is Firkin Friday. Great Divide brewery supplies a fresh firkin (9-gallon cask of beer) and it has to be served within 24-48 hours of tapping. Don’t waste a drop, come in and have a cold one for your community, and match it with the Scottish pub’s “Best Mac-n-Cheese” in Denver, a recent winner of the Gabby Gourmet Cook-Off.
Truly Art
We tip our hats to Lemon Saks, a true appreciator of fine art. The Danish-born immigrant opened his Saks Galleries in Denver at the end of World War II, and his intimate knowledge of art and antiques lent itself to his worldly travels in acquisition of the perfect pieces. In 1960 when he opened the Cherry Creek North location at 3019 E. 2nd Ave. he took great pride in the shop’s aesthetics: From the travertine stone façade down to the gold-plated door handles, it is a place to admire. Through December 1st the gallery will host the American Impressionist Society Inc. National Juried Exhibition.

THANKS

Elevate your prêt-à-porter
Cherry Creek North has never subscribed to a one-size-fits-all mentality. For clothes to last and fit you just so, alternations are necessary. You know that person at the party with a hem just a little too long or a waistline just a little too unflattering? It doesn’t matter who the designer is if it doesn’t fit. Perfect tailoring is a style essential. Maras Custom Tailors Inc. at 288 Clayton St. #208 goes above and beyond even godets and gussets; they create custom apparel. Here’s where we elevate the prêt-à-porter to haute couture.
Bali Ha’I calling
When Bali Ha’i calls you, call Kim’s World Travel. The travel agent at 234 Columbine St., Suite 238, specializes in creating custom tours to the South Pacific and throughout the Orient. Sailing out to experience a new culture can be refreshing and liberating, and seamlessly getting where you want to go on vacation is one of the wonders of the world fully realized right here in Cherry Creek North.

GIVING

Aaaahh..smell the roses
Do you make time to stop and smell the roses? The Twisted Tulip at 300 Fillmore St. will give you a reason to. The flower arrangements are creative and vibrant and they match the personality of your event or your day. There’s more to the Twisted Tulip than aroma and pretty petals, of course. Check out all the unique gift and décor items, including custom gift/gourmet baskets made to order.
A beautiful table
You stuff the turkey, you mash the potatoes, you do the dishes, now you deserve a discount, dear hostess. Get all the accessories you need to step up from mom to Martha Stewart at The Brass Bed, 3113 E. 3rd Ave. The iconic shop is holding an All Table Top 20 Percent Off sale through December 15. Linens, plate chargers, napkin rings, designer labels -- everything you need for remarkable holiday entertaining. Plenty of items are in stock, custom orders appreciated, and The Brass Bed offers in-store design consultation. Holiday dining never looked so good.
Thirst-Aid
When the rigors of the holidays begin to drain you, what is needed is a little thirst-aid. Fortunately, you can find that at The Vineyard, Cherry Creek North’s premier wine shop since 1971 at 261 Fillmore St. Start with a free wine tasting at the store every Friday and Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5, and sample up to four different wines. Then once personally sated, pick from the Vineyard’s Thirst-Aid Kits, each a selection of wonderful wines attractively packaged and with descriptive cards for each wine included. A great gift idea, and the shopping couldn’t be more thirst-quenching.
