Cherry Creek Theatre presents Side by Side by Sondheim

Second production by Denver’s newest theatre company highlights the music of Stephen Sondheim

The Cherry Creek Theatre Company is pleased to announce that it will its second performance will be the lauded musical revue Side by Side by Sondheim this April and May.

Directed by Bernie Cardell, Side by Side by Sondheim features more than 30 songs by Broadway icon Stephen Sondheim. The show highlights music from more than a dozen Sondheim hits, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Gypsy, Follies and A Little Night Music, offering a unique snapshot of the early career of one of the country’s most prolific and influential composer-lyricist.

The show will star Angela Mendez, Zachary Shannon, Susie Roelofsz and Stephen Day. Roelofsz and Day are members of the Actors Equity Association

“Side by Side by Sondheim is a wonderful celebration of one of the greatest composers in Broadway history,” said Cardell. “I am thrilled to share this production with the Cherry Creek audience.”

Side by Side by Sondheim will be performed April 29-May 1, May 6-May 8, May 13-15, May 20-22 at Cherry Creek’s Shaver-Ramsey Showroom, located at 2414 East 3rd Ave. in Denver. The Friday/Saturday night shows start at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday evening shows start at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets to Side by Side by Sondheim are $30 each or two for $50 and can be purchased at www.cherrycreektheatre.org or 303-800-6578. Cash, major credit cards and checks accepted

Launched earlier this year, the non-profit Cherry Creek Theatre Company is the vision of a group of dedicated Cherry Creek residents and neighbors, businesses and local theater leaders, who have made it their mission to enhance and enrich the Cherry Creek community by producing a broad range of high quality productions that will be entertaining, educational, enriching and diverse.

The company’s first production, Love Letters was a resounding success, with four of the six performances selling out.
