Formed in 1989, the Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District is the first Denver metro area Business Improvement District, or BID. The Cherry Creek North BID is a ‘quasi-municipality', reporting to the City and County of Denver and the state's Division of Local Government. BID's are formed to provide a variety of services in a designated area and are intended to improve or enhance the business environment while often including services not otherwise available. The BID has taxing authority and certifies a mill levy each year, which is applied to the value of the properties in Cherry Creek North. Property taxes from Cherry Creek North property owners are the primary source of financial support for marketing and service activities.
