ink! Coffee Company is the result of a ski bum who wanted to merge his love of great coffee and a mountain lifestyle. Founded in 1994 as a 6 ft metal coffee cart, ink! has grown to be a Colorado cult favorite with eight retail locations and a wholesale division selling coffee to fine cafes, restaurants and hotels.
ink! is 100% locally owned and operated and roasts all of its own coffee in a valley outside Aspen. From sourcing its coffee beans from small farmers to delivering its coffee to its eight stores within 1 day of roasting, ink! backs up its motto of "Coffee Above All Else." ink! Coffee's specialty drinks such as the frozen "Blended Black and White" have garnered internationally recognition for its innovation in the coffee world.
Of course, ink! Coffee also offers hand crafted sandwiches, real fruit smoothies, bagels and spreads and locally baked breads and sweets. This product mix served by friendly, efficient coffee professionals, is a distinguishing, unique concept in a competitive, "me too" coffee environment. ink! Coffee is not a "me too" brand.
The name ink! Coffee came from the time of the American Revolution. Tea from Mother England was tossed into the Harbor and Coffee became the beverage of choice. Its thick, black appearance resembled the fountain pen "ink" of the times and so coffee was appropriately nicknamed "ink." Just like the American Revolution was about change, ink! Coffee is a fresh movement away from old, stale coffee, automatic "button pusher" machines and employees, pre made food and boring, uninspiring non-wired coffee shops. The exclamation point after our name emphasizes our passion for great coffee!
We are a locally owned and operated company which was awarded "Best Coffee Shop" by the Rocky Mountain News, "Best Espresso Drinks" by 5280Magazine and have received honors and mentions from Gourmet, Travel and Leisure, and Sunset magazines and several other national and international publications.
