The Veronica Beard Gives Back (#VBGIVESBACK) program was launched in 2015 to support women and organizations that are making a difference in the world. From April through June 2024, Veronica Beard proudly partners with Penny’s Flight Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to funding research and raising awareness for neurofibromatosis (NF), one of the most common genetic diseases in the U.S.
Additionally, for every pair of Penny loafers sold in the month of April, Veronica Beard will donate $50 to support Penny’s Flight Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to funding research of neurofibromatosis (NF) and celebrating the life of Penny Doerge.
Penny’s Flight Foundation was founded in 2022 by Kate and Chad Doerge in memory of their daughter, Penny, who died at age 16 from a brain tumor caused by NF. After Penny’s passing, Kate channeled her grief into action and started the foundation to celebrate her daughter’s life and to fund much-needed advances in NF research.
This partnership is particularly personal for Veronica Beard as both Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard are longtime friends of Kate’s and knew Penny. In March of 2023, Veronica Beard held a shop-for-a-cause event at New York’s UBS Arena, home of the Islanders. Penny was a huge fan of the ice hockey team and loved going to games with her brothers.
