SOL Mexican Cocina
Want to feel like you're taking a surf trip to the Baja Mexican peninsula without having to book a flight out of Denver International Airport? SOL's modern twist on traditional focuses on fresh, sustainable ingredients, but even budget-conscious taco lovers can get a wallet-friendly taste during Taco & Tequila Tuesday with $2 street tacos and $5 house margaritas every Tuesday from 3pm to close. Or, stop by any weekday during their Baja Happy Hour from 3pm-6pm, with stellar specials on street tacos, drinks, ceviche and more. The restaurant and bar also features handcrafted margaritas, while offering indoor and covered patio dining.
Taco Pick: While the Street Taco 6 Pack gives the best bang for your buck, allowing you to choose 3 pairs (chicken, carnitas, beer-battered fish, or black bean sweet potato tacos), our favorite is the Animale Taco with carne asada, hand-cut fries, melted cheese, spicy Sriracha sauce, crispy onions and cilantro.
Machete Tequila + Tacos
A Denver staple since 2011, Machete takes its taco inspiration from Mexico City with regular rotating street taco specials, authentic salsas and handcrafted margaritas. Take your tacos out to the patio, which is open for patrons from 11am until midnight or later.
Taco Pick: Check out the rotating specials, like the Barbacoa Taco (pictured) featured marinated steak, salsa verde, avocado on a poblano tortilla. The Poc-Chuc Taco with pork rib meat and salsa negra is an always-on-the-menu favorite.
Marg's Taco Bistro
Denver-based Marg's boasts a perfect patio for people-watching as you indulge in Latin-inspired tacos served on locally sourced, in-house hand-pressed organic flour or corn tortillas. Going gluten free? They've got lettuce wraps.
Taco Pick: The Spicy Shrimp Taco with avocado, lettuce, sweet chili salsa and with queso fresco (pictured) is a solid choice, but if you're feeling adventurous, the Ninja, a blackened ahi tuna taco with purple cabbage and cucumber-wasabi sauce, or the completely non-traditional Vindaloo, with spicy Indian vindaloo sauce, roasted chicken and a cucumber-sour cream sauce, will take you right out of your taco comfort zone.
Chipotle Mexican Grill
The tried-and-true fast-casual spot is great for picking up a weekday taco lunch, or you could be the office hero and get a taco buffet catered. Download the Chipotle app to learn about all the taco-related freebies (like frequent free delivery promotions, discounts and more)—a tool no taco lover should live without.
Taco Pick: You can't go wrong with chicken, steak, barbacoa or sofritas, but if you haven't tried the new second steak option, carne asada, there's now another reason to trek over for some tacos.
